Message maybe then you would have a clue as to how horrible the drivers are in the US. He didn't say explicitly that she cut him off, but you can almost surely bet that is the case. Americans are so selfish they don't even attempt to drive in a decent manner. When a driver looks right at you, then pulls out in front of you they are just saying "fuck him he has brakes, he will just have to hit them or swerve to avoid hitting me" WTF kind of attitude is that? You guys seem to think driving mindlesly is just fine, and that it's no-ones fault when this stuff happens. Let me tell you, it is because of extremely poor driver training, and the fact that cops are more interested in making money than improving saftey on the road. Someone cutting you off point-blank, or forcing you to take extreme evasive maneauvers to avoid hitting them is FAR more dangerous than driving 5-10 mph over the speed limit on an open highway. Guess which one will get you a ticket? I invite you to go to Germany and pull out driving slow in the fast lane and cut someone off. "oh, just smile and blow it off" I GAURANTEE you this is not the attitude the average German driver, nor the autorities will take. When I drove there last in the mid 90's, pulling in front of someone like that is second only to drunk driving, and it is NOT limited to just the no-speed limit sections of the autobahn. In the rest of the civilized world, ppl do not suck like they do here. You can justify it however you want, but it is a farce. 90%+ of the ppl that are driving in this country should not have a license. The same ppl that cut you off are undoubtibly the same pple who can't paralell park, open a door w/o hitting your car, reverse more than 3 feet in a straight line, can't figure out how to drive in the right lane, don't realize you have to drive slower in the wet, etc. Just like every other facet of American society "it's someone elses fault". It's not the person's fault that cut you off. WTF ever, it is ALL their fault.

Now, if it was my gf/wife driving, well she should have been paying more attention. I damn sure tell my girlfriend when she does something stupid, I don't just sit there and grin and bear it. I've been very fortunate in the fact that all of my longterm gf's drove well. I've dated girls that couldn't even change lanes when there were other cars w/in 4 or 5 carlengths of them because they were terrified. They had NO control of the vehicle, nor any clue as to closing speeds, how fast their car can move safely in an emergency, how close their freaking wheels were to a curb even. I dare say(flame away, like I care) that this is probably close to the skill level of the average US driver. This is DIRECTLY attributable to the dismal(non-exsistant) driver training in this country. If you forced ppl to have control of their vehicle before "giving" them a license(there is no "earning" a license in this country, if you can breathe you get a license) the accident rate would plumet, as would road-rage occurances. Also, raise the driving age to 18, minimum. Who in their right mind thinks that a 15.5 or 16 yr old kid is responsible enough to have a high-powered car, yet not responsible enough to have a beer? Sheer insanity. I will share a little story with you....... I had motorcycles growing up as a kid in England, but had never driven a car more than 10 minutes my entire life. I came to the US for summer and took my drivers test. I read the "book", and practiced driving on the dirt roads out near our ranch in a '72 Ford LTD(HUGE car)for a day, then spent another day practicing paralell parking between the old Scout and the pickup. Then I went in and took my test. 2(TWO) days of driving and I passed with FLYING colors. The only thing I didn't do was turn my wheel the right way when stopping facing downhill w/o a curb. I was given a FULL LICENSE to drive anything, anywhere, anytime, with any number of ppl in the vehicle. I had NO concept of where the car was around me(am I driving across the centerline?), nor how fast I could stop, turn, accelerate, ANYTHING, yet I passed the standard US driving test with flying colors. You want to find fault with something, THAT is what you should be slamming, not me.

I'll state my point again:

If there was a drivers test with ANY amount of difficluty to it there would be far fewer accidents, lower insurance rates, and less road rage.

Until you want to accept these facts and say poor driving is "just a fact of life, get over it" things will never change in this country. It is a shame you ppl are so shortsighted.

Mike
